Math:
Continue to review fractions.
Extra review at home might be needed for problems like this:
I bake 20 cookies. 1/4 of them are chocolate chip. How many have chocolate chips?
Kids can put 16 cookies into 4 groups and circle 1 group.
or
Kids can draw 16 cookies and color 1 out of every 4 cookies they draw
or
Kids can divide 16 by 4 (we haven't learned this yet, so pictures work best for now)
We have also started measurement using inches, centimeters, feet, and yards. By the end of the unit kids should know:
1 foot = 12 inches
36 inches = 1 yard
3 feet = 1 yard
100 centimeters = 1 meter
We will practice measuring with rulers and yard sticks.
We will practice equivalencies.
example: How many feet are in 2 yards? How many inches are in 3 feet?

How can we make predictions?
How can we learn about character traits by looking at actions in the story?
