World Literature
Enter all who are eager to learn!

Welcome to Mrs. Miller's class.

This semester we will be studying events from the period of World War II and the Holocaust.  After reading several selections from the text and watching several videos, the students will write a literary analysis paper in response to the question, "What can we learn from the stories of people who faced adversity during the period of the Holocaust?"

In early March, students will begin a unit on African literature.  They will read several selections from the textbook, complete an author study on Chinua Achebe, and read the novel Things Fall Apart.   Students will analyze the text and master vocabulary from the native African language.

We will finish the term by studying some other shorter selections from the text, including excerpts from Dante's Inferno.  Students will also practise persuasive writing techniques in preparation for next year's state-wide writing test.

Throughout the term, students will continue to add to their vocabulary knowledge and grammar proficiency.  We will also be reading a book called Habitudes, by Tim Elmore.  This resource is designed to help young people improve their relationship skills.
