Welcome

*The primary goal of the Smithtown Elementary Physical Education Program is to promote lifelong physical activity.  By providing students with a variety of enjoyable, developmentally appropriate learning experiences, it is our hope that they will choose to make movement a part of their lives beyond P.E. class.  We enjoy working as a team with students and their families to make our community a healthy and happy place!

Our classes meet twice a week for 40 minutes each class.

Physical education goals:

·  Provide students with an opportunity to try a variety of physical activities

·  Help students recognize the importance of making safe, healthy choices

·  Encourage personal and social responsibility

·  Allow students to experience the many rewards of physical activity

·  HAVE FUN!!

Because our learning often includes movement, it is important for students to help create a safe environment.  This can be achieved through student cooperation with the following guidelines.

Each student is expected to:

  • Be a good listener and follow directions
  • Show good sportsmanship
  • Be safe
  • Participate in all activities

As in any class, students will find success more easily if they are prepared. This includes; coming to class ready to try your best, cooperating with others, and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Last, but not least.....always bring your sneakers!

We are looking forward to a great year! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mrs. Madama or Mr. Sherrard at Smithtown Elementary School via email or phone.
