Corpus Christi Procession at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament
Archbishop Vigneron invites all children who have received their First Holy Communion this year to join him for the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on Sunday, June 10th at 11 A.M. At the end of the Mass, First Communicants will be invited to join the solemn procession with the Blessed Sacrament to witness that they believe that in Holy Communion they received the body and blood of Christ.

Curriculum News

  • Grammar/Writing: This week we started a unit on poetry. The children are writing poems, reading poems, and in the end will have a poetry book they can share with you.
  • Spelling/Phonics: This week we continue to review both the "cloze" spelling words as well as the story vocabulary words.
  • Math: The children are learning how to identify the side.vertex, and angle of shapes.
  • Religion:   We spent time this week learning about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit. We continue to work on our prayers daily, and have been enjoying reading modern day  parables.
  • Science: We started the next unit on sound. The children had a good time making their vocal cords vibrate while they made different sounds. They also learned about volume and pitch using a ruler.
  • Social Studies: Our Microsoft PowerPoint presentations of regions United States are almost finished, and the students will be presenting these to the class while the other students take notes on what they learned about the other regions :)
Reminder: Please stay off the little playground until 3:20 P.M. after dismissal time! Thank you!

*PLEASE follow the parking lot procedures to help keep all our children safe at morning arrival. These procedures can be found on Edline under Safety Committee, on page 14 of the Student Handbook, and in the materials you received in your first day packet. They include:

For Linwood parking lot:

  • Pulling forward as far as possible before dropping off – (no matter what door your child enters)
  • Making a RIGHT turn only from the drop off lane – DO NOT CHANGE LANES
  • If parking, using the CROSSWALK only to get to the sidewalk
  • Making a LEFT turn only from the parking lane – DO NOT CHANGE LANES
For Woodward parking lot:
  • Absolutely NO drop-offs – You must park
  • Walk your children to the cones by the door

Any back-ups that occur on Woodward, Twelve Mile Rd., or congestion at Linwood could cause harm to our children and are the result of drivers not following the procedures or parents/children not using the crosswalks. A million thanks to those who are following the procedures.  Hopefully, the others will follow your lead!
