Library Media Program

WELCOME to the SEA Library Media Center!
This is an active learning place that welcomes participants to enjoy independent research, classroom project development, pleasure reading, and special events! Our mission is to provide resources and the information literacy skills for participants to actively and efficiently use ideas and information for knowledge creation and communication. In the process of learning how to learn, our students develop the important skills of accessing, evaluating, using, and integrating information and ideas found in print, media and digital resources.
We Offer:
- Comprehensive Materials Collection includes a variety of hard cover and paperback books, videotapes, DVD's, CD's, and periodicals.
- 20 computer stations for accessing the library automated card catalog, for doing research, and for supervised Internet access.
- Programs such as Microsoft Word 2007, Power Point 2007, Pixie, PrintMaster, PhotoStory and Kidspiration to create projects aligned and integrated with the school curriculum. Grolier Online database for research projects.
- SmartBoard to provide students with additional hands-on learning activities.
- Media Production Studio to provide opportunities to stretch imaginations while learning to use a variety of multi-media tools such as digital Flip video cameras.
Our Schedule:
Pre K through second grade students attend a scheduled weekly library period. Third through fifth grade students and staff utilize flexible scheduling for various activities in the library based on need. The library staff works collaboratively with teachers to plan and implement lessons based on information literacy standards.
