Dear Parents and Friends, Welcome to St. Ambrose School, and thank you for visiting our school website. I am proud to tell you about our school and its loving, caring environment. It is our mission to meet the needs and interests of all of our students so that each one's sense of self-worth is enhanced and that each child's uniqueness is preserved. St. Ambrose School is committed to developing students who will be academically competent, morally upright, and who will serve God, family and the community. We are a small, Catholic suburban school with 175 students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade eight. Students from over 20 school districts attend St. Ambrose School, and many are provided bussing by their school districts. The teachers and I work diligently to instill academic and spiritual values in our students. We employ a challenging curriculum adapted for students of all abilities. In addition to the academic subjects, students also participate in technology, Spanish, music, physical education and art. Honor classes are provided in science and math as well remediation for students who are in need of academic support. Our academic program meets or exceeds the curriculum objectives of both the New York State Department of Education and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. All of our students participate in the New York State testing program, and our testing results exceed those of neighboring public schools. At St. Ambrose School, we feel that it is important to educate not only a child's mind, but their heart, spirit, and soul, as well. We welcome children of all faiths to join our school community where Christian values and attitudes influence our children throughout life. Students partake in daily prayer, religion class and liturgies. As a school community, we have witnessed many blessings, and one way we express our gratitude is to understand and address the needs of those less fortunate than ourselves. For that reason, there is also a structured community service program that all of our students participate in throughout the school year. We impart on our students that they can make a difference and do great things! Each day begins at St. Ambrose with our no-cost morning program at 7:15 a.m. There is also an after school program that continues until 5:30 p.m. There are extra curricular activities, such as chorus, basketball, drama and math club, in which students may participate. There are also many opportunities for family involvement. I invite you to learn more about Saint Ambrose School by calling the school office and scheduling a personal tour. The success of this school depends on the support and involvement of our parent/guardian community, and I look forward to showing you the family environment that we've created here. God bless. Sincerely, James A. Leveskas, Principal
