Smartie Bear Tracks May Bear Tracks
We are looking forward to the last nine weeks of school, though it doesn't seem possible that our year together is almost complete. We will continue to discuss the five major categories of animals: bugs, fish, birds, reptiles and mammals and associating them with their habitats and the continent they are native to. This month we will read about the Wright brothers and find out how creative and curious they were and that they did not let mistakes keep them from continuing to try and do what they set out to do! We will also fly airplanes! The Smartie Bears will be working on a special Mother's Day project for our special mothers. We are very thankful for everything our moms do. We will be learning how special Jesus' mother, Mary is and we will be discussing the Holy Spirit. Keep reading and writing everyday. It is so important for the children to know they can do it themselves. We have become quite the writers! Practice, practice, practice but make it fun. You read a sentence and then let your Smartie Bear read a sentence.. Please continue to read each night to your child. Reading is and should be an enjoyable pastime. Your child's listening level is much higher than their actual reading level and they need to hear the wonderful language of a good story that reading to them provides. Check any papers coming home and ask your child if they did their best. Finally, as our year is coming to an end, I hope I met your expectations as your child's K-teacher. It has been so rewarding to watch the seeds that were planted in August-bloom into their own special flower! We have a very special garden of learners! Always remember once a Smartie Bear, always a Smartie Bear! Mrs. Higdon
Reminders: Check your child's folder everyday even in these last weeks. Take the papers sent home out of the folders. Remember to send transportation notes and if for any reason you need me feel free to contact me.
