Golden Globes vs. Oscars
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is known worldwide for its glittering Golden Globe awards ceremony held every January and its multi-million dollar donations to charity; but its origins were humble and stemmed solely from a group of journalists' desire to efficiently and accurately cover all aspects of the world of entertainment. (television and cinema, with various extra categories) The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a professional honorary organization of over 6,000 motion picture professionals, was founded to advance the arts and sciences of motion pictures; foster cooperation among creative leaders for cultural, educational and technological progress; recognize outstanding achievements; cooperate on technical research and improvement of methods and equipment; provide a common forum and meeting ground for various branches and crafts; represent the viewpoint of actual creators of the motion picture; and foster educational activities between the professional community and the public-at-large. (Oscars) (just cinema)
The mission of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is to promote creativity, diversity, innovation and excellence through recognition, education and leadership in the advancement of the telecommunications arts and sciences. (Emmys) (just television)
