Students should be reading twenty minutes every day. This will help increase their fluency and comprehension levels which in turn will help them do better in school and on state tests.
TIPS:
1. Have a set place to do your homework. Be sure that you have enough space for your papers, sufficient light, and it is quiet. 2. Have a schedule and check off each item that you have completed. 3. Do the assignments that are due the next day FIRST. 4. Study your spelling/vocabulary words 10-15 minutes every day. Say the words outloud, make flash cards, practice with a family member; any of these will help you do better on the test. 5. If you know that you have a test coming up: STUDY a little bit every day. Do NOT wait until the last minute. You will become overwhelmed, anxious, nervous, worried, etc. 6. Do NOT put off your homework until the last minute. One, you will get frustrated. Two, you will rush through it, not do your best, and it will be sloppy. Three, you will miss out on valuable sleep so that you are ready the next day for school.
