Mathematics Courses
All mathematics courses are aligned with the California Framework and Standards for Mathematics (see the links below for complete copies of both documents). In addition, all courses are aligned with the San Jose Unified School District pacing calendar.
Scope & SequenceThe standard sequence of courses has students taking Math 6 in sixth grade, Pre-Algebra in seventh grade, and Algebra 1 in eighth grade. For students who demonstrate an ability to succeed in advanced mathematics courses, we offer the opportunity to be advanced to a higher mathematics course. For those advanced students, it is possible to take Geometry in eighth grade, rather than in high school. We also offer intervention courses for students who require additional assistance to reach their full mathematical potential.
