MAP Testing Starts Thursday, April 26th and will continue through the 3rd of May.

Literacy: We're coming to closure on our fiction unit in writer's workshop. Your children are completing, publishing, and illustrating their fiction stories. Next we'll be studying and learning how to write literary non-fiction pieces. In reading workshop, we're continuing to support students in literature circles, and posting their thoughts about the books they're reading together on individual blogs.

Inquiry: In inquiry we've just started a new unit called Call of the Wild. The essence of the unit is that the animal kingdom is diverse and are a part of Earth's eco-systems. Students will be working in small groups to create a presentation that educates others about their animal and convinces others that the animal they've chosen to study is important.

Math:
In math we've continued to work on multiplication by focusing on three main strategies that build conceptual understanding of multiplication. These strategies are grouping, using arrays to model multiplication, and the open number line. In addition students will be making their own set of flash cards in order to ensure memorization of these basic multiplication facts.
