HILLSBORO HIGH SCHOOL BANDS

Welcome to the new web home of the Hillsboro High School Band Program             Hillsboro Bands on Facebook Hillsboro HS Activities on Twitter

Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, this web address will be the online home of the Hillsboro High School Bands.  The pages on this site will be your best source of information straight from the directors of the Hawk Bands and will be updated frequently.  As of yet it is still a work in progress so we ask for your patience as we strive to make the site fully operational.

Kindest Regards,

Brett Myers                       Tim Dedert                     Kevin Blair

BAND CAMP PREPARATIONS/REMINDERS

Band camp is upon us once again and as we begin another exciting marching season we would like to pass along a few reminders.

Student Leadership and Staff Breakfast will take place on Monday July 25h at 9am in the high school commons.  This is a mandatory meeting for all members of the Marching Hawks Student Leadership Staff.  The directors will be discussing expectations for the year as well as going over rehearsal schedules for camp and other important information.  Breakfast will be provided by the Hawks Band Support Team.

Freshman Marching Camp will take place on Monday July 25th and Tuesday July 26th from Noon-3pm as scehduled.  Only dinner will be provided during full ensemble camp so please eat a good, healthy lunch prior to arriving at school.  WE WILL BE OUTSIDE unless otherwise directed by our administration so it is important to stay hydrated and take care of your body in the extreme heat.

Ways to Beat the Heat

  • Eat a filling and healthy breakfast with complex carbs
  • Hydrate before arriving at school (drink water with your breakfast)
  • BRING A WATER JUG (water is provided but it always helps to have your own)
  • Apply sunscreen before you leave home and bring it with you to reapply every hour or two.
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect from direct sunlight.
  • NO SODA, ENERGY DRINKS or the like.
  • Wear a light colored shirt if at all possible.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  We'll see you on Monday!

MARCHING HAWKS TO PLAY ANTHEM AT BUSCH STADIUM

On July 27th, the Hillsboro Marching Hawks will be performing our National Anthem on the field at Busch Stadium just prior to the Cardinals' 7:15pm match up with the Houston Astros.  This is a wonderful performance and fundraising opportunity for our students.  If you are interested in attending the evening's festivities please see a Marching Hawks member for discounted tickets or contact Mr. Myers in the high school band office.  We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark!
