Credit Recovery Program The following credit recovery opportunity is available to help students regain lost credit required for graduation. The Georgia Virtual School credit recovery opportunity facts: ¨ After School Opportunity -- students attend a supervised after-school credit recovery session held in a computer lab. ¨ Seats are available on first-come, first-served basis Monday through Thursday from 3:45-5:00 in Lab 211 during the semester. ¨ There is no access on weekends or holidays ¨ ALL PRE-AND POST-TESTS MUST BE SUPERVISED IN THE LAB. ¨ Each course costs $75 CASH ONLY -- this is not part of the regular school day. Timeline: Fall Semester – Student must be registered by his/her counselor by September 15th. All credit recovery courses must be completed with final grade issued by the end of the school’s first semester exams. Spring Semester -- Student must be registered by his/her counselor by January 15th. All credit recovery courses must be completed with final grade issued by the end of the school’s second semester exams ***NOTE: Summer school sessions are separate and apart from this program. Summer school needs will be addressed toward the end of second semester. Please consider the following issues: ¨ Failing grades are not “replaced” with any of these credit recovery classes. All grades earned are shown on the student transcript. ¨ CRITICAL: Any student attempting to take a pre-test/post-test/final exam outside of the structured lab at the structured time(s) may be withdrawn from the course and NO CREDIT WILL BE ISSUED. In addition, the student may not be allowed any future credit recovery opportunity through these programs. Please refer to the student’s agenda for the school’s academic dishonesty policy. ¨ Technical computer requirements for students wishing to do extra practice at home (assignment reviews but not tests) are: Windows PC or Mac with working internet connection (broadband is required for any online videos from ¨ A SENIOR planning to graduate at the end of this school year MUST have the course completed and grade/credit awarded by May 15th. ¨ CRITICAL: For all other students, courses not completed by the end of the semester in which they are registered may result in no credit issued and the student may not be eligible for any further credit recovery attempts from these programs. ¨ Students must check email on a frequent and consistent basis if using Georgia Virtual School. Failure to do so will compromise course completion and future credit recovery opportunities. ¨ CRITICAL: Students taking a course that requires the state-mandated End Of Course Test (EOCT) will be expected to register for that test with the school testing coordinator (currently Mr. Richard Smith). ¨ NCAA does not recognize Georgia Virtual School’s credit recovery program as meeting eligibility requirements for their clearinghouse. This could affect athletes and their recruitment and/or scholarship and/or admission eligibility. ************************************************************************************
