ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INCORPORATED UPSILON PSI OMEGA CHAPTER-will be awarding scholarships to four qualified applicants. Must be african-american male oe female with a GPA 2.8 or higher. Deadline:March 5, 2012. Applications in Mrs. Champ's office.

UTC MATH MAJORS-The Marjorie Watson Mathmatics Scholarship, The Dorothy Dean Shelton Mathmatics Scholarship and The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Mathmatics Scholarship are available for srtudents who wish to major in mathmatics at UTC. BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP-TENNESSEE ALPHA CHAPTER OF SIGMA PHI EPSILON-for male students attending UTK fall 2012. Deadline: April 1, 2012. Applications in Mrs. Champ's office.

DELTA KAPPA CHAPTER OF BETA THETA PI SOCIAL FRATERNITY -is offering a scholarship opportunity to any graduating male senior attending UTK for the fall 2012 semester. Applications in Mrs. Champ's ofice or on line at http://betavols.org/mpsonline.php. Deadline: August 14, 2012.

BUICK  ACHIEVERS-seniors and current undergraduates who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college or university in 2012/2013 and major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design, or business, with an interest in the automotive industry.  Scholarship of up to $100,000 are available!!!  Students should visit www.buickachievers.com for more information and the online application.  

2012 NAACP ACT-SO Competition: This competition is designed for students in grades 9-12 and there is no charge to participate.  The winner of the local competition will travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the National Competition (at no expense to the student) for the opportunity to compete for cash and a laptop computer (gold medal: $4,000 and a laptop; silver: $3,000 and a laptop; bronze: $2,000 and a laptop).  The categories for competition are Visual and Performing Art, Business, Humanities, and the Sciences.  The orientation for interested students is February 18th, 2012, at 10:30am at the Matthew Walker Health Center.  The Local Competition is at TSU on March 24th, 2012. Nashville Career Advancement Center – Summer Internship Program: This program is for current juniors (class of 2013) who are enrolled in a high school in Davidson County.  During the program, participants will be assigned to work at a Metro Department for twenty hours per week for four weeks.  Participants will receive opportunities for skill building and training and will be paid $8 per hour for both their training and work time.  Participants must provide their own transportation.  Please visit http://www.nashville.gov/ncac/youthservices/summerintern.asp for more information and the application.  The application packet is due by 4PM on February 10th, 2012.  Please contact Kyndyll Lackey with any questions at Kyndyll.Lackey@nashville.gov or (615) 862-8890 x77409.

 

The Community Foundation of Nashville: This organization promotes various scholarship funds established by individuals, firms, or organizations wanting to assist individuals pursuing a college education.  All applications are available on the Community Foundation’s website: http://cfmt.org/request/search-scholarships/.   After finding a scholarship and clicking “APPLY NOW,” students must create an account, take an eligibility quiz, and complete all sections of the application.  ALL MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE MARCH 15 DEADLINE.  Questions should be directed to Ms. Cole or Ms. Lewis at 615-321-4939 or by email: pcole@cfmt.org or grants@cfmt.org.

 

  Previous Scholarships (Still Available):

 

  Kappa Lambda Omega Scholarship: The KLO General Chapter Scholarships are open to qualified applicants pursuing studies at any college/university. The Thomas and Patterson scholarships have been established in honor of two members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. who were instrumental in chartering the Kappa Lambda Omega Chapter and will be awarded to qualified applicants who have been accepted to, and will attend, Tennessee State University or Fisk University. In order to be considered for any of the scholarships, candidates must be African-American female, high-school seniors in good academic standing (C+ Average or higher) planning to attend an accredited college or university. Strong consideration is given to young women who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to the community.

  

National Scholarship Providers Association FREE LAPTOP: We have a laptop available to a high school senior who has been accepted and is planning to enroll in an accredited two or four year institution of higher education for the summer or fall term of 2012, exhibits leadership skills, is involved in the community, and does not already have a computer (and cannot afford to purchase one at this time).  The application is available in Mrs. Delano Bateman’s office (room 121) and are due by February 15, 2012.

 

 

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) –1890 National Scholars Program: The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program is available to graduating high school seniors that exhibit leadership and community service and desire to attend one of the 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities.  The scholarship provides full tuition, room, board, internships, and full-time employment upon graduation.  Students applying should have a GPA of 3.0 or better, a 21 or more on the ACT, applied for admission at one of the Universities listed below, intend to study agriculture, food, natural resources science, or other related academic disciplines, and demonstrate leadership and community service.  Applications must be postmarked by February 1st. The 18 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities are: Alabama A&M, Alcorn State University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M, Fort Valley State University, Kentucky State University, Langston University, Lincoln University, North Carolina A&T State University, Prairie View A&M University, South Carolina State University, Southern University, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Virginia State University, West Virginia State University.   search for “USDA/1890 National Scholars Program Overview” on Google and open the PDF version.

 

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Award: This award is available to graduating seniors who currently operate a small business.  More information is available at www.NFIB.com/YEA and students must apply online.

  

Lipscomb University Department of Music Scholarships: The dates for Music Scholarship Auditions are Saturday, February 11th, 2012, and Saturday, February 25th, 2012.  Interested students should contact (615)-966-5932 or 1-800-333-4358, visit music.lipscomb.edu, or email sally.reid@lipscomb.edu.

 

KFC Colonel’s Scholars: This award is open to high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit.  Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, and room and board.  Qualifying students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need.  Students may apply online between December 1, 2011 and February 8, 2012 at www.kfcscholars.org.

 

Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School: This summer program offers five weeks of academic study, athletics, and exploration, and includes students from all over the world.  More information can be found at www.exeter.edu/summer.  The summer school is open to students who have completed grades nine, ten, eleven, and twelve.

 

Johnson & Wales University National Student Organizations (NSO) Scholarships: These scholarships are available to students who apply to Johnson & Wales University and were members of many national student organizations (including BPA, DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, JA, National FFA, SkillsUSA, and TSA).  More information is at www.jwu.edu/apply.

  

Stony Brook State University of New York Honors College: This small, highly selective liberal arts college within the larger Stony Brook University gives Honors College students a minimum of $2,000 in merit scholarships each year they are enrolled in the Honors College.  Students can learn more at www.stonybrook.edu/uaa/honorscollege/

 

SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes: This sweepstakes offers a $1,000 scholarship for students.  It is a free to enter and one winner will be chosen every two weeks from October through May.  Students can enter online at www.offtocollege.info.

 

MTSU BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT- is offering two scholarships ($1,500),one ($1,000) and one ($500) to incoming freshman majoring in Biology. Selection will be based on a competitve exam given to high school seniors over biological principles and concepts. The exam will be given on Thursday, April 5th, at the Biology Department of MTSU. ELIZABETH BURFOED SHEPHERD SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION-Attention top 10% students- if you are in the top ten % of your class, with extra-curricular activities and have a financia need, you are eligible to be nonimated for one of these awards. Stop by guidance and let Mrs. Logan or Mrs. Champ know you are interested. Deadline: May 1, 2012. Awards are limited, so do not procrastinate. Applications in Mrs. Champ's office.

THE COMMUNIY FOUNDATION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE- The CFS program is made up of different scholarship funds established by individuals, firms, or organizations wanting to assist individiuals pursuing  a college education. DELTA KAPPA GAMMA (attention senior girls) who are planning to attend an accredited four-year university/college in the 2012-2013 school year. Must have a 3.0 GPA and reside in Davidson County. Deadline: March 9, 2012. More information in Mrs. Champ's office.

CITIZENS BANK S. H. SIMPSON SCHOLARSHIP AWARD-to a male or female student graduating in May 2012, and entering college in the fall of 2012. Applications in Mrs. Champ's office. Deadline: April 16, 2012.

THE BOOTSTRAPS FOUNDATION- was established to champion the higher educational needs of students who demonstrate the effort and will to suceed in the face of adversity. If this criteria fits you and you wish to be nominated please see Mrs. Logan or Mrs. Champ. Deadline:February 17, 2012.

GAMMA PHI CHAPTER, OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY,INC. (Attention Men)  is pleased to announce it's 2012 scholarship process. Information and applications in Mrs.Champ's office.

THE CIC FOUNDATION scholarship is awarded to students pursuing major course studies in Busniess, accounting, finance or related credit/financial fields. More information and applications are in Mrs. Champ's office. Deadline: March 23, 2012.

ROTARY CLUB OF BRENTWOOD- is once again offering the Brentwood Noon Rotary Scholarship as well as the Will R. Manier, Jr. District Schoalrship. Awards ranging from $3,000 to $8,000. Deadline March 5, 2012. Applications and criteria information in Mrs Champ's office. 

BETHEL UNIVERSITY  is hosting its 24th Annual Hendrix Scholarship competition on February 17th through 18th. Current Seniors that meet the 3.25 GPA and 24 ACT/1090 Sat requirements are encouraged to apply. First place winners receive full tuition, room and board for four years. NASHVILLE PREDATORS FOUNDATION gives out the Jack Diller Education Award to four students residing within the Nashville and middle Tennessee area. CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION- Scholarships for natural or adopted descendents (child, grandchild, or great grandchild) of Nashville Central High School graduate or of someone who attended Nashville Central for at least two (2) years but did not transfer to or graduate from another school. Applications in Ms. Champ's office. INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF DESIGN & tECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES INTERACTIVE SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION- IADT Design Challenge, must be a legal resident, graduating or GED by July 2012. GE- REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Exceptional students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply.
