Grading Criteria:

Marking period grades will be made up of Formative grades and Summative grades.

Formative grades (warm-ups, class work, homework, daily activities, and class participation) will account for approximately 30% of the marking period grade.

Summative grades (quizzes, tests, practice sets, simulations and notebooks) will account for approximately 70% (not to exceed 80%) of the marking period grade.

Final grades will be calculated in accordance with the CCPS grading policy.

v  Assignments submitted late will be penalized 7% for each day late.

Students will have the opportunity to re-take a quiz or test to improve their grade. This must be arranged with the teacher within one week of receiving the grade for the original assessment.

Computers and Texts:

Students will be assigned to a computer. Equipment that is not in working order must be reported to the teacher immediately. If equipment is damaged in any way by the student, the student will be assessed a fine to cover the cost of repair.

Misuse, of any kind, of equipment WILL NOT be tolerated and will result in an office referral and loss of equipment use privileges. CCPS Acceptable Use of Technology in Schools will be followed.

Academic Integrity:

Integrity is at the heart of a sound academic policy. The integrity of a school course program depends on the honest completion of student work. Cheating and plagiarism violate the most basic understanding between a student and a teacher- that a student’s work is his/her own.

The BMHS Academic Integrity Policy will be followed. Violations will result in outlined consequences and a failing grade on the assignment.

Make-Up Work:

  1. Any student absent for reasons coded as Lawful Causes will have the opportunity to make up all work for full credit. Missed work will be recorded as a One in the GO system until it has been completed.

  1. Make-up assignments completed for work done as a result of an absence for Unlawful Causes will have the grade lowered one letter grade below the grade earned. Missed work will be recorded as a One in the GO system until it has been completed.

  1. Students will be given two days for every day of absence to make-up work. It is the student’s responsibility to get the missed work. When too much time has lapsed the recorded grade of One will be changed to a grade of Two.

  1. Assignments with a recorded grade of Zero will not be able to be made-up.

Late Work:

A penalty of 7% will be deducted from the earned grade for each day the assignment is late.
