First Grade Webpage

First Grade had a wonderful trip to the Virginia Safari Park. The weather was perfect, the bus ride was fun, our parent chaperones were helpful, and the children seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day. Thank you chaperones for making this trip possible. We couldn't have done it without you!

As we are counting down this school year, we will continue our regular routine for one more week. Word Study will be words that contain the "oo" sound. Words like, book, nook, and took. Look for nightly reading and math facts homework every night.

The Rain Forest posters were fabulous! The students worked very hard on them in class. We watched them use their books to write down facts about their animal, design and color their poster, and on Monday they will present it to the class. They are so proud of their work. The posters will be hanging in the hall next week. If you are in the building, stop by and take a look.

Friday, May 25 is the Crazy Cardinal Rodeo. This is a student only school wide event. An end-of-the-year celebration. The theme is western, and the children are encouraged to wear any cowboy clothes you have around the house. Children who did not preorder lunch will need to bring a bag lunch that day.

Please send a large brown paper bag to school. The students will decorate the bag to bring home all of their workbooks and school supplies the last week of school.
