Welcome to Physics K/Integrated Science at Watchung Hills Regional High School.  I am looking forward to getting to know you this school year.  This course combines important science concepts, and you will participate in lab experiments and projects.

Curriculum Overview:

This course will cover the following topics:

  • Scientific Inquiry, Motion, Forces and Momentum, Work and Power, Energy Transformations, Electrostatics, Electricity and Circuits, Magnetism, Waves, Optics, and Technology

The textbook for the year is Conceptual Physics: The High School Physics Program.

Course Requirements, Expectations, and Homework:

Each day you are required to bring:

  • All assignments due (i.e. homework)
  • A binder or notebook with pockets 4 folders
  • A pen and a pencil
  • A calculator
  • Your student planner (all homework assignments will be recorded in your student planner)

Each day you are required to:

  • Enter the room in a calm, quiet, and respectful manner before the bell rings and take assigned seat. Start on the Do Now posted on the board.

During lab exercises, ALL safety procedures MUST be followed!  The safety rules will be reviewed and posted.

Unexcused tardiness to class and not following class rules will result in after school detention.  Detention will be served the following day that you are tardy.  If you have an obligation after school that prevents you from staying please bring in a note signed by a parent the following day and another time will be arranged.

Late Work and Absences from Class:

Late homework will lose 10 percent of its original value for each school day that passes beyond the due date for the first week that it is late. It will be accepted for 50 percent credit for the 2nd week that it is late. Assignments over 2 weeks late will not receive credit.  It is encouraged that late homework and assignments are handed in to receive partial credit towards your grade.

A student who has been absent from school will be given an opportunity to make up homework assignments, provided the assignments are completed during a period equal to the length of his or her absence.  It is your responsibility to see me and check the website when you return to school for your assignments and notes. If you are absent the day before a test, you are expected to take the test upon your return.
