Curriculum Corner:

• Reading: We read the fairy tale, "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and acted it out in class. We also practiced phonics, grammar, and reading comprehension questions that went along with the story. We also compared fairy tale, folktale, and fable components in a chart with partners using different texts in our classroom library.
  

• Writing: 2nd graders tried their creative hand at writing many different poems this week (Haiku, Cinquin, Onomonopia, Couplet, Diamond, Tongue Twister, Acrostic) and created awesome poetry books that they have been sharing with each other in class.
  

• Math: We are finishing our last chapter in math on probability, and had fun learning terms like "likely," "unlikely," "certain," "uncertain," and "impossible," and "possible" outcomes!
  

• Religion: We finished our last chapter on "Forever in Heaven" and held a prayer service and meditated about what heaven might be like. The children then drew beautiful illustrations of what they pictured :)
  

• Science:   We discussed and buddy read about forces and hearing sound and conducted some investigations in the science lab upstairs!
  

• Social Studies: 2nd graders did a fabulous job presenting their region PowerPoint Presentations to the class this week and were very proud of their hard work!
