Team 6-2 Families, We are now sending home a weekly newsletter via email on Fridays. If you have not recieved a newsletter, please let us know. Some of the email addresses that we have on file are incorrect. Students must read nightly for 30-40 minutes. Reading is a skill. The only way to get better at reading is to read – this holds true for excellent readers as well as reluctant readers. If you are reading 30-40 minutes a night in a just right book, you should be able to finish an average size novel in one week. Please check the homework page for the additional information. Wish List: Colorful dry erase markers (thick) Any books that you would like to donate to the classroom library. Check out our upcoming parent support workshops: January 30, 2010 - " Love & Logic Workshop" February 25, 2010 - " Understanding & Redirecting Misbehavior" ( Teaches 4 goals of behavior, negative and positive, Handling Anger, Active problem solving and what is called the FLAC method, Feelings, Limits, Alternatives, Consequences. ) March 30, 2010 - "Mean Girl Seminar" January 30th 2010, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Grisham Middle School 10805 School House Lane, Austin, TX Parents will benefit from a variety of sessions offered by campus, district, and area experts in topics of interest including social/emotional issues, supporting academic interests at home, transition from elementary to middle school, and opportunities to earn for college credit in high school. Information regarding TAG scholarships and the district elementary and middle school TAG camps will also be available. The student session will be provided by district TAG specialists. Students will engage in games and activities that are designed for elementary gifted students. No student may register without an accompanying adult registration. Registration fees are $15.00 per parent and $10.00 per elementary aged student (Kinder-5th Grade; includes materials and snacks).
