Keeping Track
Calendar
From the Teacher's Desk Changes in transportation home require communication from you. We are changing dismissal procedures so it is very important that your child knows how s/he is getting home. All of the children will be dismissed from the classroom and they go to the 1) bus area 2) car rider line 3)walker line. We will provide guidance at the very beginning until the children feel comfortable with finding the correct place to be. Bus riders will be put on the bus unless we hear from you. Any money sent to school should be in an envelope with the child's name and class printed on it (1-H) as well as what the money is for. Birthday treats are allowed. The children will take the store-bought treats to the lunchroom at 11:15 . Homework for our class will consist of reading every evening for 20 minutes. This can be a book read to someone or a book read together. The children should tell you 1) what is happening in the story, 2) a strategy that they used, and/or 3) their thoughts about the story. The books can be fiction or nonfiction. Please consider getting a library card for your child. Having access to books is a wonderful building block to better reading. Please check the Take Home Folder each evening. If an item is Keep At Home, please remove it from the folder. If a child must stay in for recess, a note must be sent to school. Please refer to the parent handbook for the specifics. Birthday party invitations may not be distributed at school unless they include all of the girls or all of the boys or the whole class. Little ones do not understand being left out. I will send notes home for any changes in procedures or new procedures. I like to keep you informed and try to explain things as we go along. These notes will be in the Take Home Folders. If you should need to reach me, you can call me at school between 7:30 and 8:00 A.M. at 423-5588 or email me at d.hudolin@elwoodschool.com. I try to check my mail every day but, at times, it isn't possible until the end of the day.
