Today we worked on "Acting out Story" problems. The children need to do more work on story problems at home. I will try to find worksheets on this to send home for homework, but you can make stories up using various props. The first thing we teach the children when doing story problems is to listen to the whole story. This is where the children are having problems. They are not listening to the story to find information. Please make up a story with props and tell the whole story, then ask your child what information you gave first, second and so on. Then have the children use the props to act out and answer the problem. All of the students had difficulty with this skill. New flash cards were also made today. There are 9 new words to work on, the words are color words. Hopefully your child will be able to use letter sounds and clues to memorize the words.
