Special Projects Reading Buddies with Mrs. Jenkins Class Our class has become "reading buddies" with the students in Mrs. Jenkins fifth grade class. Each Tuesday at 2:30, the fifth grade students join our class to read books together. Each student has been paired up with a "buddy." Both the second graders, as well as the fifth grade students look forward to reading with their buddies every week! Our Class Worm Box Mrs. Estabrook from the Scituate Garden Club, recently visited the second grade classes. We learned about red wiggler worms and are going to maintain a class "worm box." Students learned that the worms can eat newspapers, fruits, vegetables, egg shells, and coffee grounds. We recently added apple slices, some with peels and some without peels. The class is curious to see which slices the worms will eat first! Mrs. Estabrook visits our class every few weeks to see how our worms are doing. So far we have added coffee grounds, apples, lettuce, and rabbit waste. The worms are thriving!
