Meet Our New Kindergarten Immersion Teacher

(reprint from Town Crier Article)
Thais Lopez is now in her second year teaching the SI kindergarten class at Clough. Srta. Lopez received her degree in Madrid, Spain. She started her teaching career in Spain as a substitute teacher and then moved into a kindergarten teacher position for two years. Most recently, she was an assistant teacher at a Montessori School in London. When asked how she found out about the Mendon-Upton SI program, Srta. Lopez explained that in Spain, there is an Education Department that sends teachers to the United States and Canada for one to three years to teach. Srta. Lopez originally applied for a position in Ohio, but it was for a higher grade level and it was felt she was best qualified to teach kindergarten. So, instead, she was put in contact in contact with Principal Rozen, who interviewed her via Skype and offered her the position at Clough. Srta. Lopez is currently living with the Tremblay Family of Mendon, who have two children in the SI program. She is thankful for their help in getting her settled in her new home. And the parents of her kindergarten students are thankful that she is part of our unique SI program!
