First Grade Happenings at a Glance Here is some important information for February:
WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE! FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS FOR AN AWESOME ADVENTURE THIS YEAR:)
Reminders: - We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Tuesday, Feb 7. Don't forget to send in a collection of 100 items on this day!
- We will be celebrating Valentines Day in the classroom on Tuesday, Feb 14. Students can bring in Valentines to pass out to their classmates on this day!
- We have a field trip to the Mondavi center on Monday, Feb 13!
- We will be reviewing unit 9-12 words for the next couple of weeks. Students will be assessed on these words during this month!
Unit of Inquiry: During the month of February and March we will be working on a new unit of inquiry titled "Weather". The central idea to this unit is that people use science and technology to observe the weather. Here is what the students will be inquiring about as we explore weather: * Become familiar with instruments used to monitor and measure air and weather conditions. * Understands how liquids, solids, and gasses relate to weather. *How weather changes around the world. | * Observe, describe, and record the types of and changes in weather across the seasons. |

Jan 16: NO SCHOOL Jan 23: Bucketfilling Assembly Jan 30: Auburn Symphony Assembly Feb 2: Groundhog Day Feb 7: 100th day of schoool Feb 13: Mondavi Field Trip to see Circa Feb 14: Valentines Day Class party and card exchange Feb 15: Internet safety night hosted by LBCS in Franklin Gym 6-7pm Feb 20-24: No School- Winter Break!
PIZZA FRIDAY INFORMATION EVERY SCHOOL FRIDAY Students can purchase pizza on Friday's for lunch. Students may purchase 2 pieces for an additional cost.

SUBWAY WEDNESDAY INFORMATION EVERY SCHOOL WEDNESDAY Students can purchase a Subway sandwich for lunch. Students can choose a ham, turkey, or veggie sandwich. Please make sure your child has sufficient funds in their lunch account to purchase lunch.
POPSICLE Tuesdays: Students can buy a popsicle on Tuesdays for $1. It will be the student's responsibility to keep track of and remember their dollar to purchase a popsicle. Only students who pay $1 will be permitted to get a popsicle. Students may not use school lunch account to pay for popsicles.
