Preschool We are singing Springtime songs about ducks and other animals. We are also learning fun songs that we can accompany with instruments as well, like, "A Ram Sam Sam" and "It's raining, It's Pouring." We march, tiptoe, clap, jump and move to the groove as well. Kindergarten The students are learning short songs to accompany stories. We are also using classroom instruments to make sounds for different parts of the stories. We are continuing using scarves and movement to increase coordination. We are learning sign language as well to help up remember the words! We will be adding boomwhackers to our list of instruments as well, playing simple rhythms. Grades 1-3 Students in these grades are getting into more complex songs and rhythms and hand movements with songs. We are using the instruments to accompany songs, to make up our own compositions and just learning to hold the mallets or instruments correctly. We arealso learning about conducting! Grades 4 We are continuing learning on the recorder, adding notes to our well known B-A-G. We have been earning "Belts" for certain musical selections. One thing we have realized is that "Practice" is key to being able to play a song well. And this affects our grade! We are learning to sing our National Anthem and The Erie Canal. We are slso learning some folk songs of othre countries! Grades 5-6 Our classes begin with a prayer or prayer song. Well, the musical is underway. The date for the musical performance has changed to Thursday, May 31st at 1:30pm and 7pm in the Parish Hall. The name of the musical is "Dig It." It is about ancient civilizations, part of the 6th grade Social Studies curriculum. We are taking class time to rehearse songs and lines. Students have scripts now. All students will be involved in some way, whether they have several lines , solos or dancing. I would like everyone to experience being in a musical. *Lines are to be memorized by Friday,April 27.* I am looking for some help from parents, including costumes and scenery. Below there is a practice schedule. Please contact me through school email or by leaving a message at the office if you'd like to help. It is going to be great fun!
