A bit about Mrs. Severe: Hello students and parents! My name is Rachel Severe, and this is my third year to teach at Christie Elementary. I graduated December 2008 from Texas Tech University with a degree in Music Education. I'm also a graduate of Frisco High School, and am excited to be back and teaching in Frisco. Depending on your what grade you'll be in we could be working with the Orff instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels, etc.), the tubanos (traditional African drum), reading music, singing folk music, and so much more! I'm so excited to be working with all the great students here at Christie. Last year was wonderful, and I'm glad to be back! Get ready for a great musical experience this year! Touch and use the instruments at instructed times. 3. Treat others with respect. 4. PARTICIPATE!!! Music Caldendar: Please be aware that this is a tentative calendar, and some dates/times are subject to change. I will do my best to update changes. Thank you! September 6, 7, 8, 13, and 15th - Christie Choir auditions - sign ups on Mrs. Severe's door. Time slots are from 2:50 - 4:30. September 19 - First Christie Choir rehearsal (Full rehearsals are Mondays until 3:30 and every other Thursday until 3:30 - a more elaborate calendar with times will be in your choir packet) September 29 - First Choir Sectionals - 3-3:30pm - students will alternate Thursdays between Soprano week and Alto week. The first sectional on the 23rd is an Alto week. (Look to your calendars for exact dates) October/November - date TBA - 3rd graders will get to go see a performance by the Ft. Worth Children's Opera - information will be sent home. November 5 - Texas Tech v. UT - Wreck 'Em Tech!!!! :-) November 17 - 1st Grade PTA Program - immediately following the PTA meeting. December 3 - Christie Choir - Merry Main Street performance in downtown Frisco - details will be sent home to choir parents. Early Spring - date TBA - 5th graders will be going to the Eisemann Center in Richardson to see the Plano Symphony Orchestra perform. (A date has not yet been chosen for our campus). March 29 - Kindergarten PTA Program - immediately following the PTA meeting. Details TBA Early May - date TBA - Frisco Song Fest - Christie Choir will be attending a day of singing and playing. Details to be given to Christie Choir students as it approaches. May 10 - 5th Grade Recorder Concert and Christie Choir concert - This will be a combined concert in the evening at Christie.
