Meet the Teachers! Mr. Brogren ~ Science & Language Arts ~ brogrenw@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2439 I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. I enjoyed playing sports throughout my school years. During my senior year in high school I was voted class president. After graduating on the honor society, I went on to attend Aquinas College with a major in Business Administration. I graduated in 1994 with a business degree and immediately began my career in marketing and sales with the IBM Corporation. I was fortunate enough to move to several different areas in the country including, Detroit, Dallas, and New York. After meeting my wife in Dallas I moved here permanently where we settled down in Frisco and had our son Caleb six years ago. We are thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl to the family in November as well. I am excited to be returning for my 4th year of teaching 5th grade science and working with the wonderful students at Christie Elementary. Mrs. Gallego ~ Bilingual Aide ~ gallegom@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2400 I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and in 1975, moved to Queens, N.Y. We have four children, two boys and two girls; the youngest just earned his bachelors in Business Management. We have six grandchildren, who are the light of our lives, and all live in New York. We alternate as many trips as possible between New York and Texas, and visit with them as often as possible. I have worked in the Educational field in New York for 24 years, and in the Frisco ISD system, as a bilingual aide for 11 years. I have been with Christie for the past six years. My goal in working with children has always been to assist in the learning process by creating a positive environment with self-respect, pride, and acceptance of themselves, which will create an academic foundation for them to grow. Mr. Gonzalez ~ Bilingual Education ~ gonzalej@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2459 My name is Jose Gonzalez, and I will be serving as a Bilingual Teacher on the Fifth Grade Team at Christie Elementary. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of an exemplary district, staff, school, and community with all of you. I look forward to an exciting and successful school year, and we hope to exceed your expectations. I was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and I have been living here in Frisco since 2005 with my wife, Christy. We enjoy spending time here in our great city supporting our respective baseball and soccer teams (Go Roughriders and Hoops!), and also the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavs, and Stars. We also enjoy spending time with family, friends, and our community. I attended TWU in Denton, Texas where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual Education in 2000, graduating Cum Laude. In addition, I received my Master's in Education from TWU in 2005. This is my 11th year serving as an Educator, and I have had the good fortune of serving a diverse community of learners and communities from Dallas ISD, Carrollton-Farmers-Branch ISD and now Frisco ISD. I have also had unique and rewarding experiences and opportunities in serving our youth with the Circle Ten Council and the Boy Scouts of America. I will continue in my quest for life-long learning with all of you, and I know that with all of us working together, the best is yet to come. Mrs. Ortiz-Harper ~ Bilingual Education ~ harpers@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2436 Hi! My name is Mrs. Ortiz-Harper. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX. I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual education grades (1-8) in 1995. Soon after graduating, I moved to the Dallas area and began my teaching career in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch District where I taught a total of 6 years 2nd and 3rd grade. When I married, I came to work for Frisco ISD and have been teaching for 8 years in both 3rd grade and Pre-k. When Pre-k moved to the new ECS, I left Christie for 2 years, but could not stay away. I have returned to Christie because I love and support our Bilingual program, the students, staff, and Christie community. I am now teaching 5th grade Math to our awesome bilingual students who I last taught in Pre-k. Wow, how time flies! I have been married to my awesome husband, Joseph Harper, for nine years and we have 2 sweet children, Jordan who is in first grade and Sofia who is in kinder, who also attend school here at Christie. When I am not here at Christie, I love spending time with my family as much as possible. I enjoy running with my dog, exercising, and reading every chance I get. Mrs. Jackson ~ Reading & Social Studies ~ jacksons@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2437 Hi! My name is Mrs. Jackson and I am thrilled to be starting another year here at Christie! We have two sons - Mayson, who is in kindergarten, and Aaron, who is one. We also have two dogs, Jack and Farley. It's a loud and entertaining house with all of these boys, but I enjoy it! In my spare time, I enjoy walking, reading, and watching movies. I can't wait to spend the year with all of you! Mrs. Langston ~ Mathematics ~ langstot@friscoisd.org ~ 469-633-2438 I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1996. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Robert Weisman, for nine years and have two beautiful children, Zachary who is six, and Anneliese who is four. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, running, and playing the Wii with my kids. I strive to provide a brain compatible learning environment for all students. I believe the classroom is a place where both students and teachers will discover meaningful experiences that will enhance life. I believe that through gentle instruction we can open minds and touch hearts. I believe in a school culture where all students and adults unite for one main purpose: to become independent life long learners and discover the joys of learning about the world in which we live.
