In February we will be studying the Presidents of Mount Rushmore. We will be learning about coins and their values. Gather a penny, nickel, dime and quarter and look for likenesses and differences together.

We are learning about long vowels and their sounds.

In math, we are joining and taking apart sets..We are using plus and minus symbols when problem solving addition and subtraction stories.

In writing we are continuing to use our laptops and word wall . We are using -ing words in  sentences.

We are beginning to read in small groups . We are learning new strategies

to help identify new words that are unfamiliar . We look at the pictures to help us think about what is happening in the story. Please continue to read every night and return the reading books the next day!

We will be checking out books from the library on Wednesday.  We would like the books back the following Tuesday so we can turn them in first thing Wednesday morning. 

We will exchange valentine cards on February 14. Please have your child sign his name on the cards. Please do not address the cards. We will do that in class.

Each child needs to bring a large gift bag with handles to keep their cards in. You may send stickers to decorate the bag  also. We have 25 students in our class!  Room mothers will contact you about snack for that day.
