About Mrs. Emerson

My name is Cindy Emerson.  Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I recently graduated from FAU with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  I'm very proud to also be a graduate with honors from the University of Florida with a B.A. in Political Science.  I have taught at Sebastian River Middle School and Parkway Middle School of the Performing Arts.  I am now proud to be a STINGRAY.  This is the third school that I have worked at as Department Chair for Social Studies.  Being the Pre-AP Coordinator for Storm Grove Middle is something else that I'm very proud of.  I LOVE working with such devoted and talented teachers. I am a certified I.B. and Intel Master teacher.  Working on projects, keeping my students actively engaged, and incorporating technology are all true passions of mine.  My husband is a Fire Fighter in Palm Bay and I have a very talented little 5 year old named Austin who thinks he is a cross between a Jedi Knight and a Fire Fighter.

I couldn't be more excited for the year to begin!!  I feel like the best way to start the school year is with open lines of communication.  I am always available via email at     Cynthia.Emerson@indianriverschools.org

Here is some additional  information that will be very helpful in you having a successful year in my class.

Students will learn to process historical and geographical information while comparing and contrasting it with current events in the news.  They will understand the impact that events have made on shaping the United States and the effects that America has made on the World.

The Warm-Up/ Reflection is the greatest opportunity to keep your grade up.  Students will have 5-10 minutes to copy down the RAP (review and process) into their Interactive Student Notebook.  ** If the student is absent they are required to RAP the NEXT day they return to school.

There are NO exceptions to this rule.

We will be keeping a Table of Contents as we fill in assignments throughout this course.  This section will be graded bi-weekly.  I make every effort to keep students updated on assignments and this gives them every opportunity to plan for success.

Weekly Homework Reminder:

We will be doing our homework through the class blog.  Please pay attention in class so you know what is expected.  :)
