O.R.E.O. Project 2009!
(
Our Really Exciting Online Project
)
hosted by Jennifer Wagner

Our results are in! We averaged 19 stacked cookies!

This year's project invited students to stack oreo® cookies as high as he or she could and then averaged each student's highest result to achieve a final class result.

Students counted the number of cookies used to stack NOT the height of the stack. As they stacked, they tallied their results.
Students estimated beforehand how many oreos® they thought they would be able to stack before the oreos® tumbled.

Students were to NOT to use anything to stablize the cookie and they were NOT able to adjust cookies as they stacked. Once they placed the cookie and their hand left the cookie, they were NOT to adjust that cookie again.

Each student had two attempts to stack oreos® and then recorded the highest amount they were able to stack before the cookies tumbled. Once the entire class had stacked their oreos®, they averaged all the highest results of each student and then submitted ONE class amount.

This is a project with schools all over the world and at the end of the project, 712 classrooms totaling 14,382 students participated in this project. They came from 45 states, Canada, Australia, Italy, Scotland, Japan and the Virgin Islands. The average amount of cookies stacked was 18.
