Where the Wild Things Went

Where the Wild Things Went
A Jenuinetech Project

For this online project we enjoyed reading "Where the Wild Things Are". We then participated in two activities involving extending a story and verbs.

The first activity involved extending the story. "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. The book ends with the boy returning home to his bedroom with his dinner still hot. Our class was invited to write the next 10 sentences of this story. They chose between writing about Max's dinner, what happened to Max the next day, telling his parents about his day, or what the wild things may have gone after discovering he was gone.

Enjoy our selections below. To check out the official movie site, go to
Where the Wild Things Are  at Warner Brothers. To enjoy other endings written by participating classrooms enter HERE.

Brandon and Ryan

Max fell asleep with a full tummy and was dreaming about the wild things. Max woke up and felt sad about the way he was to the wild things. So he got on his boat and went back to where the wild things were. When he got there the wild things called him Wild King. Then, Max yelled, "Let the wild rumpus start!" And the wild things started shouting "Wild King, Wild King, Wild King." Then, they started playing wild tag and got tired. It was Max's birthday and they all said "Happy wild birthday, Wild King!" Then, they gave him a monster cake to celebrate. And Max blew out all of the hundred candles.

Helena, Mari, and Rachael

So that night when Max went back to his dreams, he dreamed about the wild things again. Since he was now king he ruled the land. They played cool games like tag. After that, Max had a ham and cheese sandwich and the wild things had turkey sandwiches with frozen yogurt and rocks. After that, they took a nap and slept in one big pile. They dreamed a dream that they were dreaming. When they woke up they built a tree house with cool stuff. They agreed that would be their meeting place when they see each other. So day came and Max was found at the house. He really experienced where the wild things were.

Josie and Carrigan

The next day Max woke up and went downstairs and told his parents about his dream. When they heard the dream they were speechless. Max was standing there smiling at them and they looked back at him thinking he was crazy. Then his parents said "Take us to your dream and show us the beast." So, Max took them to his room and brought them onto the boat. They sailed and sailed and finally got there. Max showed his parents all around the island. Then, they turned the boat around and got home safely. When they got home Max parents were amazed. They had dinner and talked all night long about the island.

Spencer and Rigo

The next day Max forgot about the wild things. He went to bed and dreamed about where the wild things are. The wild things said "We missed you, Max" The next day they climbed trees, had fun, and went to the pool. They had fish and sushi for lunch. After lunch, they went and played freeze tag. Then, the wild things built a house for Max which took a few days to build. The next day he had to leave because his parents probably missed him. Max left and woke up. His mother came in and said, "Did you have a good dream?"

Noah and Fred

The next morning Max went to school, but when he got on the bus the wild things were there making a mess. When they got to school Max found out that all of them were named Billy Bob Infection, the 3rd. They didnt pay attention and they talked to each other. At lunch they started a food fight. Sheldon got hit with spinach. At recess, they broke Mr. Brack's car. He said, "My beautiful radio!" They got Max in trouble. They blamed it all on him. Then, they ran away after they noticed that they were sick.

Hunter and Jay

Max looked into his bowl and the noodles spelled out "Wild Thing." So, he mixed the soup as quickly as he could. He then fell asleep as fast as he could. In his dreams he saw them again. He woke up and saw them. They said, "Master, come with us to the wild world!" Max said, "I will not." He went to his mom and talked about it. His mom said, "That must have been crazy." He went to bed the next day and did not dream about the wild things.

Ben and Alvin

His dinner was still hot and delicious. For dinner he had soup and grilled cheese. He said it was the best dinner he ever had and ate it all up. After that he went to his mom and thanked her. Then he went upstairs to go to bed. Then, he had a nightmare that the wild things came to get him. By this time he woke up and got very scared and went to his mom. She explained it was just a dream. He said ok and went back to bed. He fell asleep and dreamed a happy dream.

David and Felix

When Max was on his way back to where the wild things are, he saw a ship with a snake on the side and said, "We must be having a war!" Then, he saw one of the wild things laying down. He ran to shore to see what was wrong. When he got to the shore the wild thing got up and said, "The king is back!" When they got back to where the wild things lived they greeted Max. Then, Max said, "We're in trouble, a boat is coming." They all started to throw shells at the boat. The boat blew a hole and sank. They all went back and went to sleep. Then Max waved goodbye and sailed home.
