ONLINE SCHOOL SUPPLIES - BUY NOW THROUGH JUNE 30TH
Based on parent feedback, we are launching a new partnership with 1st Day School Supplies for online school supply shopping!
This past year, the PTO worked through an extensive RFP process to carefully vet suppliers and negotiate pricing. 1st Day School Supplies was the clear winner in quality, service, pricing, and free in-school delivery. Breton’s online portal is open now through June 30th - no orders will be possible after June 30th. The process is extremely simple… Just be sure to select your child’s grade for NEXT YEAR and then click “select this kit” and proceed to checkout. You can also shop accessory items like backpacks and lunch boxes! Your child’s kit - and any add-on accessories - will be delivered to Breton this summer, and will be waiting for you in your 2017-18 classroom at the Teacher Meet and Greet in August. No more fighting the back to school crowds and lugging the supplies over to school in the 100 degree heat!
That said, if you do like the thrill of back to school shopping, then this is a win for you as well! Since the teachers have already compiled their lists, you can print the list from the 1st Day website and have it on hand this summer as you shop.

The Learning Commons is now closed. Students checked out their last book for the school year during their classroom's visit last week. All books are due this week, including any overdues. Please contact the school office if you need to replace your student's lost book. ??

Please turn in any Box Tops you have collected so far, marked for either MSU or U of M. These will then count towards the next competition in the fall. Thank you!
MINI GRANT SPOTLIGHT
The Brainstormers writing workshop was a great success! They put on two interactive performances; one for grades K-2 and one for grades 3-5. As you can see the students were eager to participate! The program uses humor to help kids experience the joy of creativity and bringing writing to life. The donations raised through fundraisers such as Mrs. Fields, Parents’ Night Out and our Sponsors are used to enhance the curriculum for all our students. The Breton Downs PTO was able to approve a $2,750 mini grant for both the winter and spring Brainstormer programs thanks to your support!

Dear Breton Downs Families,
As the 2016-2017 school year comes to an end this Friday, I want to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have made this year so memorable. We have much to be proud of at Breton Downs Elementary. First, my sincere appreciation and thanks to the parents and the PTO for your continued dedication and support of Breton Downs and our students. The partnership between school and home is extremely important and you provide us with support inside and outside of the classroom. Next, please join me in thanking our staff for their commitment, dedication, and care of our students. They are passionate about providing students with exceptional learning opportunities that support the development of the whole child. Finally, I want to thank our Breton Downs students for their enthusiasm and bright smiles. Our students come to school each day with kind, caring, and respectful behavior and are eager and excited to learn. I often say I have the best job in the whole world and I feel very fortunate to be the principal of such a fine school. Thank you for making Breton Downs Elementary such a wonderful place!
Here are some of the events happening during June:
- The 5th grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m.
- Flag Lowering is scheduled for Friday, June 16 at 11:10 a.m. Students are dismissed at 11:24 a.m.
- Report cards will be available through Skyward on Friday, June 23.
Enjoy your summer with family and friends! I will see everyone again on Tuesday, September 5 for the start of the 2017-2018 school year!
