Breton Downs Boogie Dance-a-thon

Please mark your calendars . . . The PTA and Breton Down’s Student Council is especially excited to kick-off Bulldog Spirit Week beginning Monday, February 6^th, with a different fun theme for students each day. Wednesday, February 8^thwill be the 2^nd annual Breton Downs Boogie. All students will gather in the Breton Downs gym, during the day, for a dance-a-thon. Did you know that this is our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year?! Last year we raised $14,000. The money raised directly supports the PTA’s ability to support beneficial learning experiences for all of our students grades Y5 -5. Some examples of this support include: music therapy, classroom and library books, Science Alive, Chess Club, Junior Great Books, Odyssey of the Mind, busing for Camp Miniwanca and the Lansing field trip, educational field trips to the theatre and local farms, technology – interactive white boards and iPads, and the new Bookroom, just to name a few! We are happy to say that 100% of the “Breton Downs Boogie” proceeds go directly to Breton Downs Elementary and all donations are tax deductible!

After the Boogie . . . Celebrate at Winter Family Carnival - To celebrate the success of the Breton Downs Boogie and Spirit Week, all Breton Downs families are invited to bring their ‘boogiers’ to the Winter Family Carnival on Friday night, February 10! Come for dinner and several fun filled activities. It will be fun for the whole family!

During the Carnival, we will be hosting a Silent Auction. Each Breton Downs classroom will be creating a Masterpiece, with your children as the aspiring artists! They will be displayed near the main office beginning Wednesday, February 8 and ready for you to bid on and take home the night of the carnival. Also, 50% of the winning bid will go directly back to your child’s classroom. The remainder of the proceeds will go to support PTA sponsored programs. We hope to offer items contributed by each classroom in the Silent Auction as well.

How you can help . . . In addition to the money raised by our Boogiers we hope to raise $5,000 through the generosity of Corporate Sponsors. Do you know of a company or business that would like to sponsor this year’s event?

You can contribute items, experiences and/or events to the auction. Do you have a special talent (painting, photography, jewelry), a cottage or vacation home, event tickets (sporting events, theater, ballet) that you would like to contribute to your students classroom item? Be Creative! Your item will be auctioned off at the silent auction held on February 10^th during the Winter Carnival.
