Welcome to High Peaks and BCSIS Elementary Physical Education Webpage.

FIELD DAY WILL BE HELD MAY 17TH.  TIMES TBA.

Welcome!

I am excited to begin another great year of learning at High Peaks.

This site will help you follow your child's Physical Education career.   You can find the yearly outline, daily schedules, class times, activities and assignments.

Physical Education is a key component in educating the whole child.  Students learn valuable skills such as sportsmanship and team building, as well as motor development and manipulative skills.  I implement many different teaching strategies to engage diverse learners such as The Tactical Games approach and the Sport Education Model. These strategies allow students to take ownership of their learning through questions, performance and cooperative learning.  I teach a strong curriculum which aligns with the Boulder Valley School district as well as the National Association of Sport and Physical Education standards.  These components create a foundation for lifelong fitness.

I welcome snow.  However, snow boots make it difficult to actively participate in Physical Education.  Please have your child wear supportive shoes where they can run, jump and stop suddenly.  Inappropriate shoes are flip-flops, sandals (open toed shoes), dress shoes, boots and of course Crocs. Please no skirts, dresses or your favorite outfit.  Good P.E. clothing includes clothing you can move and be comfortable in.  I do allow hats for going outside but when we are inside the gym, hats will not be permitted.

Students need to have their own water bottles with their names written on them.

Please help your child be prepared for Physical Education.

After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.  My first job was a traveling Physical Education teacher in Broomfield.  I began working at High Peaks and BCSIS Elementary in 2004. I graduated in May from the University of Northern Colorado with a  Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Physical Education.  When I am not at work or school I love spending time outside playing tennis, swimming, golfing, hiking, bicycling and gardening. My husband and I spend our free time with our cherished yellow labrador, Holly Bean.

Please search the webpage for more information about the Physical Education program.
