'A' School: Breakfast Point Academy -Fourth Grade

Welcome to our Fourth Grade class website!   We are excited about our journey together this year.  We are a community of learners eager to dive into the sea of adventure, discovery, and exploration.  We desire to become strong academically, to respect each person's diversity, and to work side by side in a cooperative manner.  I am pleased to be a part of the Breakfast Point family.  My goal is to build better readers, writers, thinkers and leaders who work together cooperatively and confidently.  We are proud to have wonderful parents who will encourage our endeavors.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child this 2011-2012 school year.   Parents, please feel free to contact me anytime for scheduled conferences.     Go RAYS

Thought for Day:  We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.   Aristotle

3.  TEACHER NOTES:

*********************************************************************

Thought for the Day:  Our Power of Choice.......look for the good

Imagine being in a small boat drifting in a river. And imagine being unaware that your boat has a motor. As long as you fail to use that motor you will be a captive of the river. You will be a prisoner without any control over your destination. Yet, the boat that we’re in does have a motor. We can use it to change course. That motor is our power of choice. All we have to do is choose to look for the good, for when we do so, that is all we will find!

8.  Question of the Day:  How can my child succeed at school?

                                 EFFORT = ACHIEVEMENT

First, students learning anything new need lots of practice, fueled by consistent routines.  Second, they need persistence - the patience combined with passion to stick with it.  Finally, they need scaffolds - we become accomplished first with easier tasks, and then eventually move into what is more difficult.

Question to ask your child: Did you read 20 minutes for homework?  Did you take an AR test this week?
