Hello, my name is Alexis Swanson and I would like to welcome you all to Room #13! I am very excited about having the opportunity to teach First Grade at Oak Creek this year. This will be my seventh year at Oak Creek and let me say how truly lucky we all are to have such a wonderful school! I am the product of the Irvine Unified School Distict and have lived in Irvine since I was seven years old. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I come from a long line of educators, so I guess it runs in the family! I feel fortunate to be one of those people who loves their job! I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton. In addition, I have obtained a Masters of Education and Teaching Credential from Concordia University in Irvine. My educational philosophy can be summed up by the following quote: "I see and I forget, I hear and I remember, I do and I understand." -Chinese Poverb
My classroom environment fosters active learning and embraces the multiple intelligences of my students. It is a positive, warm environment where children can learn and grow!
Here is a little bit about me... Some things that I enjoy are: traveling, USC football, dancing, pedicures and spending time with my family.
I live in Irvine with my husband Patrick, our son Ty and our two maltese dogs, Charlytt and Daphnie. Below is a picture of our family:
