Welcome to Mrs. Baker's First Grade Homepage!

I hope you have had an enjoyable summer vacation and are ready to begin first grade!  This is going to be an exciting year for your child and me!  

I look forward to beginning my third year teaching first grade here at St. Pius X School.  During the first few weeks of school, your child will be learning the rules and routines of the classroom and also getting to know his/her classmates.  I will encourage the children to share personal stories and thoughts in order to build a strong classroom community.  It is important the students feel safe to take risks to fully achieve the highest level of academic, social and spiritual development.

Each day around 10:00 a.m., your child will be given time to eat a snack.  This is a time the children really look forward to.  Please send one snack and a drink with your child.  As I am notified of any allergies, I will notify you in order to keep all the children in our class safe.

Throughout the year, I will use many different means of communication.  I will use your child's planner, send home notes, make phone calls, and place information on this site.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  You may write a note or call the office and leave a voicemail.  I truly value your input and the support of your child's education.   

I cannot wait to work together as a team to ensure your child receives the best education possible.  I am looking forward to a fun, exciting and successful year in first grade!
