Over 11,000 bottles were collect during our bottle drive

The bottle drive that we held last week was a huge success.  I have so many people to thank for its success.

1.      Linda Bushey, you did an amazing job motivating your students (mostly freshman).  Great Job!

2.      Gwen Quequiner, aka Q!  Thank you so much for coming after school and helping us move the bottles.

3.      Mary Lake, my student teacher.  She brought in reinforcements (husband and daughter) to help move the bottles.

4.      Scott Keeney- stayed with me until 5pm on a Friday until the last bottle was delivered.  He also motivated his students (again freshman) to bring in a ridiculous amount of bottles.

5.      My Green Team students, you help us move the bottles.

The final results are as follows:

1st place Ms. Bushey’s class with 4,264 bottles .  Yes, her room smelled like a brewery!

2nd place Mr. Keeney/ Ms. Charlebois’s class with 4, 200 bottles.  All over Plattsburgh on Friday, parents were scrambling to answer the call for more  bottles.

3rd place is Mrs. Sholtis’s class with 2,142, ok it was my contest.

4th place is Mrs. Phaneuf’s class with 243 bottles

Together, we collected 11,136 bottles.  That is $555!!  Northern Cakes redemption center said it was the biggest bottle drive he has seen.

My real hope is that we raised awareness of just how much we actually throw away everyday, and how much can be recycled.
