Welcome to our classroom website! Physics has been defined as the study of matter and energy; however, this definition only begins to scratch the surface. By the end of this course you will learn why what goes up must come down, why advertising claims for machines with 100% efficiency are always bogus, why boxers and martial artists are taught to punch differently, why a basketball shot follows an arching path, why your cell phone works, why eye glasses correct our vision, why certain concert venues sound better than others, why the Earth's atmosphere protects us, and much more! More importantly, you will know not just that these things occur, but you will be able to make predictions about their future states (as well as their past and present!). Physics is not the stuff for “rocket scientists”; rather, it is for all of those who are curious about how their world works. And if you are still undecided about why you should study Physics, Mr. Thomas Rogers, of Southside High in Greenville, SC, provides compelling reasons in his article, "Ten Reasons Why No Student Should Go Through High School Without Taking Physics." The original article is available here: http://www.intuitor.com/physics/physmain.php This website will be your primary method of staying current with what is going on in both STEM Physics and Physics. By following the appropriate links on the left of this page you will be able to stay current on laboratory experiments, homework, classwork, assignments, and exam dates (just to name a few!).
