Podcasting - Audacity
Audacity is a digital audio editor and recording application. MINI PODCAST PROJECTS
Project Introduction:
You are creating an audio Podcast (voice recording only) using Audacity. No images needed. Your Podcast will be short – approximately 3 minutes or less. You may choose to do your podcast by yourself or with another person. Your podcast should be on one of the topics below. I have suggested some things you can talk about… Book review – name of book, author, main characters, plot and setting of the story, whether you recommend or not for others to read… Movie review [critique of a newly released movie] – name of the movie, describe the movie, type of movie (comedy, suspense, action, etc.), what rating would you give it, what age group would you recommend it for… Sports update [update on your favorite sports team – professional or a team you are on] – teams record, upcoming games/matches, key players or games to watch, review of a season or game (who scored, final score)… Today’s Directions: 1. Decide if you are working by yourself or with a partner. You will have today and 2 more class periods to complete this mini project so use your time wisely. 2. Decide on your topic from the list above. 3. Develop your script. o Type your script…what you will say when it is time to record your voice. This is a VERY important step. You may need to go online to research some information related to your podcast choice. Make it interesting! o Type your name(s) for printing purposes where indicated at the top. o After you have written your script, select your music. Make sure you remember where you found the song, especially if using SoundzAbound and FreePlayMusic. There are several different folders. o Indicate the music you selected by typing the title on the Script sheet. o Save! When saving make sure you change the save location. If the computer is not allowing you to save, this is because you MUST change the save location. 4. Begin Audacity. There are short How to Video Tutorials–click to view each. o Insert your music – Project, Import Audio. Edit to 15 Seconds, Fade Out the last 5 seconds o Record your voice. Print your Mini Podcast Script file – one for each group member. o Insert your music. Select the music from above – Copy. Click after your voice recording – Paste. o Save your podcast – File, Save Project As, change the
save location, and save as your class period first name
and podcast topic.
